Sex Education Programs

Skills for Life Sex Education Programs are the ideal choice for elementary-aged and middle-school-aged children’s groups and schools who want their children informed about their bodies, puberty, and the decisions that they will make that involve their bodies.

Both "Puberty Talk" and "Sex Education" are available for private schools, church youth groups, scouts, and any types of children's group where children are in similar age groups. Contact us directly to schedule these courses

These courses cover personal values, a general review of different religious perspectives on sex, communication and consent/refusal skills, examples of healthy/unhealthy relationships, all birth control methods (including abstinence), and STIs.

All courses are appropriate for all abilities, and all complies with California Education Code sections 51930-51939 as well as meeting the California Health Education Content Standards for “Growth, Development and Sexual Health”.

Custom Courses

Any of the above courses can be customized for either 1:1 instruction (with a child of differing abilities, for example) or for a specific group of children or religious perspective. As schools have not always been able to provide this information, I strongly encourage children's clubs and religious organizations to fill this vital need.

Regarding teaching in a religious environment: To be clear, I do not teach from any specific religious perspective. We do discuss how different religions have different beliefs regarding sex and their bodies (circumcision, ideas about virginity, body covering, etc.), but it’s general overview of all religious perspectives. I teach them facts, you teach them values.

I will give factual, relevant information. I will answer their questions in an age-appropriate fashion, and give them all the relevant facts they need at their age. You will teach the values.

Although many religious organizations previously focused on abstinence only education, teens who receive abstinence only education are more likely to become pregnant when compared to those who receive comprehensive sex education (Carter, 2012; Stanger-Hall & Hall, 2011). I teach facts: that abstinence is the optimal method of birth control. I also give factual information regarding other methods of birth control. Why? As this is proven most effective in preventing teenage pregnancies, which is one of the top goals of this program.
